Brewers Catcher Jonathan Lucroy’s Anti-Cardinals All-Star Ad Is Perfect

Best Attack Ads in Baseball

Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy’s making a push to get voted into this season’s All-Star Game, and his anti-Yadier Molina, anti-Cardinals message features the kind of mudslinging one could only find in a local political ad.

I voted 150 times for Lucroy when I heard the sound of a baby crying over footage of Molina.

not bad...but looking at the Carlos Gomez one, and they need someone to fact check their ad. Beltran was not a left fielder.

This was pretty funny.

I laughed. Also, Lucroy's having a helluva season at the plate.

i am sure folks like will leitch will be taken aback. but the rest of us should chuckle

That is awesome.

How many other places would this work? Where the rival is so obvious and hated (and in the same league) that it would make sense, at least as a joke?

Chicago also as anti-Cardinals.
Yankees and Red Sox vs each other
Dodgers-Giants
Mets v Braves (though not vice versa since I doubt Braves fans remember the Mets exist)
Mets v Phillies (ditto)

How many other good honest intraleague hatreds are there?

There was that "Punch AJ" All-Star campaign a couple of year ago that played on the Cubs/White Sox rivalry.

Rumor has it that the next Lucroy ad will accuse Yadier Molina of secretly cavorting in the bullpen before home games with both George Soros and the Koch brothers.

Cards and Reds don't seem to like each other.

True, but then nobody likes the Reds.

Yeah, Pirates win one game and Zeth gets all high-and-mighty.

(Joking set to ON, because that's often hard to tell on the internet.)

You must have turned your TV off early last night--the Reds won.

Cardinals are pretty much hated by every team in their division, the Reds/Cardinals is probably the most "heated" and provoked not because of respect of each other or history, but actual animosity.(which will be like that as long as Yadier, Phillips, and Cueto are on the team...although the Phillips hatred is not really called for)

A's-Angels. Do the Twins and White Sox still hate each other?

The more I think of this ad, the more I like it. Provided it's done in a fun context(which I'm pretty sure it would be, since it's done by the fox affiliate) I wouldn't mind seeing a whole series of these come out.
