Brewers Surprise Bob Uecker by dressing as him for flight to Pittsburgh

Bob Uecker was one of the first passengers aboard the Brewers’ charter flight Sunday for a rare road trip, and he had an inkling something was up when he noticed one of the flight attendants wearing a shirt with his name on it.

Uecker knew something was up when first-base coach Ed Sedar climbed aboard wearing a loud sport coat over his T-shirt bearing an infamous image of Uecker in a Speedo, the one that had been splashed across the pages of Sports Illustrated a decade ago.

That image was seared into my memory when I first saw that article. The picture of Uecker watching those guys play ping pong (Sexson and Tyler Houston, IIRC?) in his speedo deserves to receive cult status (Kramer painting, Belushi College sweatshirt fame, etc.)

I remember during one summer back in the 80s - MLB did a "Bob Uecker HoF: Fan vote" promotion in the ASG leadup that I really got into. I got in a bit of trouble with my parents - MLB did a 1-900 number call-in to vote yes or no and I ran up quite a phone bill stuffing the Yes ballot (IIRC, I think the results were something like 80% yes), as well as urging all my friends to do the same.

I was absolutely crushed - and wrote a sternly crayoned letter - when I found out that he did not get his plaque as I felt my summer of docked allowances had warranted.

One of my favorite baseball personalities...

That's got to be on some "How You Know Your Kid's a Nerd" list: He runs up a 1-900 number tab...on a fake Bob Uecker vote.

All the cool kids ran up huge bills calling DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince on their rap hotline.

Sadly, the industry overestimated Lita Ford, but Mr. Sure did well.

This article has the commercial - and I will note that there is no "Kids, ask your parent's permission first" warning, so maybe this is still actionable?

If memory serves, MLB owes me something like $25.... plus interest.

Ongoing conspiracy? I might be willing to toss my parents under the bus as co-conspirators if that helps... My dad said "and you voted YES?!?!?!"

Ongoing conspiracy?
For Conspiracy to Induce Dorkery, you'd have to show that (1) you're still a dork; (2) A meeting of the minds between MLB and your parents to induce you to be a dork; (3) at least one active step in furthering the conspiracy; and (4) proximate causality between the active step and your continued dorkery. If you can plead facts speaking to those four required elements, you might at least be able to get past a motion to dismiss.
