Bryce Harper responds to being voted MLB’s ‘most overrated’ player

For a second consecutive year, The Athletic surveyed players across Major League Baseball on a variety of subjects, from their favorite managers to potential rule changes.

And for the second consecutive year, Bryce Harper was voted the “most overrated” player in the league by the surveyed players.

Harper’s reaction?

“I don’t really know what to say,” the Philadelphia Phillies outfielder told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday. “I mean, I have no answer. I have no idea.

Ever get the feeling that if you lit a candle near Harper’s left ear, you could see the flame through his right?

Harper’s so dumb he just managed to sign a $330 million contract even though everyone in the game apparently thinks he’s overrated.

"I don’t really know what to say," the Philadelphia Phillies outfielder told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday. "I mean, I have no answer. I have no idea.

"I knew ESPN did (a similar poll) a couple years back, and I won MVP the next year. So I don’t know. Maybe we’ll do that again this year. We’ll see."

As responses go this is pretty tame and frankly about what I would want if I were a Phillie Phan. Overrated/underrated always bores me anyway. It's so randomly subjective.

Harper spoke to USA TODAY Sports as part of an endorsement deal with ACUVUE OASYS with Transitions, new transition contacts lenses that he is wearing this season. The lenses have technology that is designed to adapt to changing light.

I'm not a paid spokesperson but the Acuvue lenses are pretty good. I've never used the transition ones which sound a bit odd but I was happy when I used those. My eye doctor switched me to "Dailies" (that's a brand name) this year though. Apparently they are a bit better for people with dry eyes. Thus endeth this portion of "stuff no one gives a #### about."

I kinda wish Harper would have said something like, "I would think that being voted most overrated would be an indictment of thse doing the ratings."

"That's a clown survey, bro."

I mean, what's he going to say?

Yeah, I'll side with Harper here.

#4 Clown survey would have been his best option, followed by "ok, but what about [f]uck you?" Bryce's response is also acceptable.

I think it would have been really dumb to make a fuss about it.

The only reason Bryce had nothing useful to say is because he had no sponsor lined up for this particular situation.

But in baseball it's impossible to be overrated or underrated. All you need to do is look at the player's numbers, that's all the rating you need.
