Are the A's or Rockies plausible destinations?

Some smart Nats fans keep saying Mariners, but...really?? Of course, the very latest is Cleveland based on their need.

If the Nationals stick to script, nothing much will happen between now and 16:00 ET. The Nats will play out the string looking like a collection of lost puppies, watching with sad eyes as the Barves and Phillies battle it out for the NL East.

Caveat: I don't do fantasy baseball (not even 1-day!!), I'm no stat-head, I only cherry-pick what some smart Nats fans say.

I don't see how the Nats can trade him at this point -

If they DO trade him, there are probably about 3-4-5 other players that they obviously ought to be trading, too - and I cannot see a team spinning 4 different trades in one day.

If they were going tear down, feels like Harper really needed to go first and it feels a bit late to go that route. Might as well see if they can have a hot last two months. It's just 5.5 games.

If the Indians trade six years of Shane Bieber and six years of Triston McKenzie for two months of Bryce Harper, I may spontaneously combust.

Mike Rizzo just reached out with this message:

"Bryce is not going anywhere. I believe in this team."

The Rockies do seem to have figured out that Gerardo Parra isn't all that good, since they've started platooning him. Harper would be a massive upgrade, but they're more likely to just slot David Dahl into left field, and make a trade for a mediocre middle reliever.

Bryce Harper said Mike Rizzo told him yesterday that he wasn’t going to be traded. Acknowledged that it’s interesting to hear your name in the rumor mill, but said he’s very happy to be staying with the Nats. Raved again about his relationship with Rizzo.
