Bud Selig on A’s stadium ” I would like to move faster.”

SAN FRANCISCO—As the San Francisco Giants play in the World Series for the second time in three years, their owners continue to object to the Oakland Athletics’ plan to move to San Jose. Commissioner Bud Selig is in town, so he will face the question of why he has not approved or rejected the A’s plan in the 43 months since he took the matter under advisement.

“And I would like to be taller..but that isn’t going to be happening either”

Like Tampa, the A's need a new stadium to be competitive.

And like Miami, a new stadium may not be enough.

I wish Bud would move faster to find a full-time commissioner. Funny how that lucrative interim position worked out for ya, eh Budski?

If he wants to move faster, I'm pretty sure Jim Bowden has a segway lying around that he doesn't use anymore.

"I would like to move faster. Why does a team have to wait until its stadium is 20 years old before extorting the city for a new one? Why not every 10 years?"

One can only conclude that the situation is intractable. Which would suggest the inevitability of the one thing MLB can't abide: member vs. member litigation.

its going to have to come down to litigation because when the Giants win the World Series , their position is going to be intractable since they are already the darlings of the local media. its not like they have to try very hard to court public opinion. For someone who doesn't live in the Bay Area that moves here for the first time, you would think the A's already play in another market for the amount of coverage they get.
