Cabrera’s promotion on hold following arrest

UT San Diego reported on Thursday Cabrera was arrested on March 16 in Glendale, Ariz., on a domestic violence charge of misdemeanor assault.

Cabrera has a pretrial conference scheduled for next Thursday.

A costly mistake for Cabrera. If not for the arrest, he’d probably be up and in prime position to steal the Padres’ 2B or SS job.

This guy played one game in 1913. There were no more Cabreras in MLB until 1989, and we've had 11 since then.
