Caffeinated Confines | MVN - Most Valuable Network—Blog Archive—GM For a Day: Giants

Tip for beginning fantasy GMs: No player should ever be untouchable. Although the cost of some players might be prohibitively high, everybody should be on table. The reason, always give your trade buddy the option of doing something, well, stupid.

After getting Nick’s first e-mail and telling me Lincecum and Cain were untouchable I decided to try and pry Lincecum anyways, but in the end that didn’t happen and If I were the GM the trade talks would have ended there.

Right, but the guy seems to be going by a "what would Bavasi actually do" standard... I'm not sure that makes a lot of sense, but it seems to be what he's doing.

Interesting how Dave Cameron also came up with a similar idea, Sexson for Durham. I'm surprised the M's GM here was dissatisfied with an end result of Sexson/Balentien/LaHair for Lowry/Durham/Hennessey. Realistically, I think the Giants would want more in exchange for two pitchers who are young and have been pretty effective. I doubt the Giants, at least, would discount them any because of their questionable peripherals.

I seem to recall BP getting together people to be GMs and doing a "mock offseason." Do they (if it was them) still do that? It was pretty nifty.
