Next week, as Major League Baseball teams get ready to break camp and head north, Hayhurst will instead take to the road promoting his first book, “The Bullpen Gospels: Major League Dreams of a Minor League Veteran.”

He's the Ron Artest of baseball.

Keith Olbermann's given this book a few plugs. Nice to see someone continue the Brosnan/Bouton tradition.

In fairness to Hayhurst, he is in long-term rehab from shoulder surgery and is still in the Blue Jays' plans, but he has time to do this while he can't throw or do baseball stuff.

Read about half the book last night. Lives up to the hype. If you are interesting in the human story behind the players this book is spectacular. Hayhurst is brutally honest, almost shockingly so, not about the other players, but about himself and his motivation. He will be signing the book here in a couple of weeks and I will definitely be going.
