Catcher Carlos Santana on 7-Day DL With Concussion

Santana was placed on the seven-day disabled list before Saturday’s game against Chicago with a slight concussion. He was hit in the mask by an Alex Rios foul tip Friday in the eighth inning and had to leave the game because of dizziness.

Is Santana the first person on the new concussion DL?

No, Erick Almonte was the first, back on April 26th. Ryan Sweeney and Josh Thole also have been placed on the 7 day DL this season, there may have been more players as well.

Eric Chavez too.

Extending this to all injuries would be a good move IMO. 15 day or nothing encourages players to play through things they shouldn't and possibly turn a minor injury into a serious one.

Are they just tring to bait me by putting Eric Chavez on the 7-day DL?

I agree. The 15-day DL also discourages teams from disabling guys with day-to-day type stuff which often forces them to play with a short bench. When you only have a 5-man bench to begin with, one or two guys taking it day-by-day really limits your options.
