CBS: Bus driver accuses Conn. hospital of watching baseball game instead of treating his erection

(CBS/AP) NEW HAVEN, Conn. - A bus driver has sued a Connecticut hospital, saying staff at an affiliated facility failed to promptly and properly treat his painful erection and watched a baseball game on television while he waited.
Daren Scott of Brockton, Mass., is seeking $2 million in his federal lawsuit against Yale-New Haven Hospital. The lawsuit says Scott was diagnosed before the incident with recurrent priapism, a persistent prolonged erection that isn’t caused by sexual arousal, according to the Mayo Clinic. Found most commonly in boys between 5 and 10 years old and in men between the ages of 20 to 50, it normally needs immediate medical attention to prevent tissue damage.

While waiting, Scott said he noticed that the facility’s staff, including physicians on duty, was watching the game on TV. Scott says his pain worsened and he told a nurse.

“Notwithstanding this call for help, the staff, including the physicians, continued to watch the baseball game and ignore plaintiff’s condition,” the lawsuit states.

I thought thinking of baseball is supposed to help such problems. Maybe he should have been the one watching the game.

Making him wait was a real boner, especially since the hospital wasn't short-staffed.

No, they still get erections, but since they're always sexually aroused, you can't figure out if it's caused by that or not.

The good news is that it wasn't as long-lasting as Merkle's Boner. That thing's still around 104 years later.

Would you take a 60 mph fastball to your dangerously long-lasting erection for a million dollars?

Also, how would he know that? Were they wearing big, flashing "on duty" hats?

So what game were they watching? April 19, 2009 was a Sunday. It would be great if a lawyer got up in court and proved that all the day's games were over by the time the bus pulled into the hospital. Perry Mason logs into B-Ref …

Nah, this one made $7M with the Cubs in 2009

My version of TFA says it was April 17, 2009.

I'd guess it was the Yankees game. It was a Friday day game, and the Yankees rallied to beat the Indians by one after Joba was knocked out earlier. The Yankees hit 5 home runs.

That also was game #2 at the new Yankee Stadium, perhaps accounting for the additional interest. (And remember how after that series, everyone believed the new Stadium was going to be a Baker Bowl-like bandbox? You don't hear much of that anymore. Now that the old Stadium next door is no longer with us, the wind currents probably have changed, normalizing the park somewhat.)

The erection had only lasted three hours and 55 minutes, so the doctor was correct to wait.
