CC Sabathia going on the DL

CC Sabathia is going on the disabled list after feeling pain in his left adductor muscle. He felt it in his last start and waited until after yesterdays bullpen to tell the team.

Freddy Garcia will start on Friday.

Sabathia is expected to be back immediately after the all-star break and should miss two starts.

Thanks to Dom.

Wait, what? Sabathia doesn't get injuries. Especially in a muscle that sounds so made up.

Boo to Garcia and not Phelps or Mitchell. I realize it is probably a roster management thing, but I prefer seeing young crappy starters to old ones.

Aw, nuts. Let's hope they play it conservatively, because no need to do otherwise.

EDIT: I concur with CP on Garcia over the kids, but I guess Freddy is around, you might as well make the most use of him.

Abductor muscle? Is that the fork holding muscle?

No, no, he injured his adductor muscle. That's the calculator button-pushing muscle.

Supposedly they're going to bring up Warren to take Sabathia's roster spot, so I don't think starting Garcia is really a roster management issue. They have room to bring up whoever they want to make a start. I imagine they'll probably go to Phelps after he gets another start or two in AAA to stretch out, unless Garcia does better than expected.

Rod Beck was wrong all along!

Garcia is pitching in relief today after Pettitte left with an injury. So it looks like Warren's probably getting CC's start on Friday.

Pettitte has a fractured ankle. It appears as though he'll miss at least six weeks.

Hmm. Perfectly timed for the Sox to go gang busters before the break.

The only funny thing Jim Rome has ever done was give him the nickname "Commander Chimichanga".
