Chicago Sun-Times: Hundley’s short trip ends in DUI charge

Hmmm…the old Vicodin on an empty stomach routine.

Todd Hundley…..I wasn’t driving 100 m.p.h. through the neighborhood, I was going 2 m.p.h. and just got discombobulated. People that know me personally know I don’t go out getting drunk around town and killing people, that I’m not like that.

Because the thought of Brattain being my mother is an idea too bitter to contemplate.

What, you don't wish to nurse on my pulsating pecs?

Go to your room before momma spank.

Best Regards

Wile searching for some Ross CW posts, I came across this page which may explain some trolling on the Neyer Board circa October of 2001.

And I do think they are performance enhancing. That isn't the issue wrt my position on amps.

Its the magnitude and the manifestation of the performance enhancement that I don't know. I can't quantify how many HR's steroids will provide you, but I'm relatively sure its enough to make an impact.

I haven't read any of the information you say I won't acknowledge, so I can't tell you how many SBs or whatever the amps will provide you.

Either way, its not that point is not something that I am vested in. You can asterisk amphetamine users and steroid users for all I care.

Fair enough. I take it back.

Within limits, I acknowledge your points wrt distribution. We'll follow up when it's more germane to the thread.
   504. Designated Sitter (GGC) Posted: August 18, 2005 at 10:12 PM (#1556056)
See, I'm confused as he11. I have read two things regarding distribution. In one they are dispensed by the team. In another Dial has told me about seperate coffee pots.

Separate water coolers for the early 1970's SF Giants according to Jim Willoughby. Red Juice is for veterans only.
   505. Srul Itza Posted: August 18, 2005 at 10:14 PM (#1556062)
Are you going to lambast me for granting him a little point.

If that is what I was doing, that was not my intent. I may have misunderstood.

I would not, however, have necessarily granted him even that point.

I largely agree with your uber-position -- assuming I am stating it right -- that suggesting that Hundley should lose child custody based on the limited facts presented is an overreaction. Even EE has conceded (I believe) that his initial statement was over the top.

Vlad, disagreeing, has asserted, as near as I can tell (a) that a single incident of driving under the influence with (or without?) the kids in the car this nature is sufficient to justify immediate loss of custody and (b) that we know enough from the article to judge this situation. He has crawled way, way out on a branch in an attempt to support his position. Pretty much the whole BTF groupthink gang has gotten together to saw it off behind him.

In responding to him, it seemed to me -- and I may be wrong -- that you have hypothesized as well as to Mr. Hundley. If I misread, I apologize.

And then there was RossCWXYZ...

The original backlasher, so to speak. :-)

We knew about it at the time. Those guys were not even interesting trolls.

Hey, Backlasher. Did you post as Irritated in this thread?

I think so. That sounds like me, and its pretty distinctively sounding like me. IIRC, that was pretty close to when backlasher was born. I think I was dipping my toe in the water at that point. It was Pre-Backlasher v.0.2 or something.
   510. Jose Clutch (Replacement Level Poster) Posted: August 18, 2005 at 10:39 PM (#1556099)
Oh Jeez - I hope this isn't naturally evolving into a steroid thread.

Really, the thing that strikes me as biggest in Backlasher's reaction is his (apparent) distaste for Bonds + indifference towards Mays.

I'm intrigued by the aluminum siding discussion, Srul.
   512. Mefisto Posted: August 18, 2005 at 10:44 PM (#1556103)
Yes, but not for the reasons athletes are taking them.

OTOH, amphetamines can be prescribed legitimately for the reasons athletes are taking them.

That is a significant difference, Mark. It may make it easier to abuse amphetamines but nevertheless, that is a real distinction.

kevin, I don't agree, but we'll take it up in the next steroid thread. That could be tomorrow if the internet rumors are true.

Oh, I remember that. Oh the good ol' days. . . . .

Re: RossCW. I never interacted with him here. Not a single time. In the 2001-2 off-season I went around and around with RossCW for months on Voros stuff.

I don't mind his opinions on the matter, and was always unfailingly polite, but what I did mind is that he consistently, persistently, and continually misstated my position.

I told him about, oh, a good dozen times that I didn't think pitchers had no impact on the ball in play, yet he kept saying that. At first I thought I wasn't making myself clear, then that I should make my points more obvious, then I gave him the benefit of the doubt, then I got annoyed . . . When you tell someone that many times that you don't think X is true and he refuses to acknowledge that, you lose any interest in interacting with him.

I didn't talk to him here at all, but I did make a meta-comment about him. In the MLE thread where he made his triumphent primer debut I posted as the Rob Neyer Message Board and told people to enter debates with RossCW at their own risk.

I thought the crap he took here was over the top (especially the RossCWXYZ stuff) but I don't mourn his loss.

That's a pretty good exemplary thread. Ross was actually making a cogent argument.

That's how I feel with the whole camp of lessers, including, but not limited to Vlad.

That was by JC in DC, IIRC.

Which is actually pretty illustrative if you want to trace the posting career of JC. Or watch the evolution or devolution of 2Alous. No matter how hard you try, you could not impose any culpability on me for any reaction by that guy. But after being called an idiot so many times, its just time to give a little back. And I have some skills in that area.

I'm not sure what this means wrt to JC. All I really know about 2Alous is he hasn't been around lately and pthat he posted one of the sickest things that I ever heard of in the Lounge. I'd see him on epic threads, but he seemed to be a free agent of sorts, not particularly on one side of the argument or the other, but I haven't memorized any of his posts.

I tried finding that baserunning thread where Nieporent and I and everyone else were debating RossCW on the speed thing, but neither The Beast nor The Google were any help.

I don't get The Beast at all. I searched for myself, and got no results. I know I've posted here, so that really baffled me.

The Louisville Plugger is sicker. I think that it was from a April Fool's Day Savage Love column.

Wile searching for some Ross CW posts, I came across this page which may explain some trolling on the Neyer Board circa October of 2001.

We knew about that at the time. John M actually got pretty involved in the Board for a while and made some good posts. No doubt he started out as a troll, but that didn't last too long IIRC.

Ross was really my nemesis on the Neyer Board - especially with respect to the DIPS debates. I will admit that those arguments were not always my best moments--Ross tended to bring out the worst in people. When he showed up here, Chris J and I were both quick to warn people to stay away. Alas, I didn't take my own advice.

I remember that one. He posted a link to a website with instructions on how to kill a cat by microwaving it. Complete with pictures.

A tasteless joke, but relatively harmless. I thought people overreacted to it. As I recall, he immediately regretted posting it and requested that an admin (not me, I forget who) remove his post, so I don't think you'll find it in the archives.

Ah, hell. All apologies for the misidentification. I'm a horrible person.

I looked around for that cat-microwaving website again, and couldn't find it. Perhaps it's been taken off the web by now.
   538. Dan 'The Boy' Werr Posted: August 19, 2005 at 05:24 AM (#1557062)
It's just that cat-microwaving became a big running joke between MNP and I, though I can't remember if that was the source or just another reference to it. I think I deleted the link.

Eric, I work for 911. I'm responsible for making and updating their computerized maps, and mapping other things needed by the Sheriff's Office. Also, I maintain and upgrade the computer aided dispatch system. It's a great job... just doesn't pay well enough. Especially when it takes a $400 airline ticket to see your girlfriend.

The real question is why you're worried about the cost of seeing Eric's girlfriend.
