Mike Marshall, hired on as the team’s vice president of baseball operations and general manager in March of 2010, is out of the front office for the Outlaws per the league’s request, a statement Marshall made Thursday morning and that was confirmed Thursday afternoon by [North American League] commissioner Kevin Outcalt.
The league removed Marshall and his wife Mary, who served as the assistant general manager, from the front office because of the uncertain status of the Outlaws’ plans going forward, Outcalt said. ...
Marshall also was the team’s field manager in 2011, so Chico will be on the hunt to fill that position as well — assuming the Outlaws return. Several scenarios could play out, potentially, as far as the Outlaws’ future, with the possibility Marshall could return if Diamond Sports doesn’t find an ownership group, with its own management plans, to run the Chico franchise.
“We really like Chico, we like the people, we’d definitely be open to it,” Marshall said. “You could see that as a franchise, we were starting to turn things around a little bit. We’d definitely be open to coming back.”

1. Gold Star - just Gold Star Posted: October 07, 2011 at 04:03 AM (#3954750)Aside from that, Mike Marshall was my first-ever favorite player*, so I hope he lands on his feet.
* - Yeah, I can pick 'em.
Who didn't?

It is.
Chico really ought to have a California League team. I thought they might get one of the franchises that were struggling a few years ago (Bakersfield or Visalia), but it didn't happen. They might still get the San Jose Giants if the A's move down there.
(The biggest downside is that Chico isn't all that close to any of the other Northern Division teams. But that's a problem if you put Chico in any league.)
Doesn't the Golden League have one of those setups where the league owns all the franchises?
They were - the league wants to sell this franchise, apparently. Of course, it's the NAL now, but that's short term - I think.
