Chris Getz retires from baseball

“I’ve enjoyed every minute that I’ve played and will always be passionate about the game,” Getz said. “I’m starting a family, and I’m interested in other endeavors both inside and outside of the game.”

Getz: Back where he once belonged.

He earned 3.2m over his career, so he should at least have a nice nest egg to start the second part of his life. He played parts of seven seasons in the bigs, which is something to be proud of. Best of luck to him.

I’m starting a family,

This is his wife. The "starting" is the fun part

One of the seemingly endless White Sox middle infield prospects that turn into decent utility guys and nothing else. Getz could probably hang around a few more years in the AAAA "non roster invite" circuit, maybe even make another million, but sounds like he's had enough.

He may not hit major league pitching well, but I wish him all the best hitting that.

So Toronto has a roster spot open for Julio Franco, then?

Starting is the fun part, but when his kids get to be the age of mine he'll be begging teams for a traveling scouting job.

if I had $3m I'd get two girls like that at the same time.

Is there such a thing as a big leaguer with a non-hot wife?
