Clayton Kershaw Demoted to Double A

Today the Dodgers announced that Clayton Kershaw would be sent down to Double A Jacksonville and activated Hiroki Kuroda. Dodgers skipper Joe Torre said “We made the move, not because he wasn’t handling it, but we’ve got pitchers coming back.” But Kershaw did not seem to accept the Dodgers reasoning behind the move. He said “They can say they don’t have enough room. But they sent me up when they didn’t have enough room. All those guys were healthy then.” Kershaw seemed to be having the time of his life while up in the big leagues. He has just been far to inconsistent for the Dodgers liking right now. I am sure that Kershaw will be back with the squad sometime after the All-Star break.

It's semi-bogus, but it seems to me that Kershaw really does need to work on his command, and maybe another pitch, in the minors.

the Dodgers demoted to the Minor Leagues 20-year-old rookie Clayton Kershaw, who didn't see it coming.

"I didn't expect them to do it," said Kershaw, 0-2 with a 4.42 ERA in eight starts, including a no-decision Tuesday night, when the bullpen let a five-run lead and his first Major League victory get away.

"I knew they had to make a roster move. I guess I wasn't pitching well enough. They didn't say why. They just said they were sending me down to keep working and get better. There wasn't a lot to it. They didn't specify to any specific thing."

Sure he is 20 so his comments may be emotion talking, but why do the Dodgers seem to be on the verge of derailing into a massive train wreck of a franchise? They honestly seem like they could finish with 92 wins or 68 wins.

I'm a huge Kershaw fan - but I don't mind it. He hasn't had great command, as scareduck points out. Also, the plan all along was to limit his innings this season - tough to do if he is in the major league rotation.

He'll be up again this season, barring injury.

Maybe they were just trying to Mask a lack of depth in their rotation. Or perhaps they just thought he was Some Kind of Wonderful.

You know, I wanted to make an Eric Stoltz joke, but I couldn't think of a single one of his movies other than "Pulp Fiction", of which he had a minor role.

Stults, BTW, was one of my favorite "sleeper" minor leaguers the last couple years and I am thrilled to see him making a MLB career out of it. I love seeing a small town midwest guy who was a mid-round pick from a tiny college (Bethel - its in Indiana and Justin Masterson's career started here) make a career for himself. He is a great athlete with solid stuff. He actually came to college as a centerfielder and he was a fine hitter when I saw him in the minors too.

That’s a joke from the Dodger Thoughts board.
During Kershaw’s time in the minors, the reports of his performances filtering back to LA were… mythical. Some commenter tagged him with the Minotaur nickname, and it stuck.

if its the bethel college that im thinking of then its right by me. they have some weird crazy rules for their students
