Computerworld: EMC to help digitize Baseball Hall of Fame collections

The digitization project, scheduled to launch later this year, will take about three years to complete, transforming the museum’s nearly 500,000 photographs, more than 12,000 hours of recorded audio and video, three million documents and nearly 40,000 3D artifacts into digital content that will be available to future generations.

Complete, one hopes, with the sort of meta-data that will allow researchers actually to find anything that they digitize.

Any archivist will tell you that it's very uncertain that a digitization project will do anything to make materials available to future generations. It can, however, go a long way towards making materials available to this generation.

How's this coming along? I was hoping I could just dial something up on ABNER (their library catalogue) and retrieve it, but that doesn't seem to be the case yet.
