Craig Calcaterra: The Dodgers deny that McCourt wants to sell; call me irresponsible

UPDATE: So this morning, I wrote the bit way down below, passing on a rumor I heard that Frank McCourt would like to sell the Dodgers once all of the McCourt v. McCourt litigation blows over. I trust my source on this, but the Dodgers took issue.  A few minutes ago they sent me the following statement in response:

“The NBC report is completely erroneous, inaccurate and irresponsible journalism. The Dodgers are not for sale. Mr. McCourt has made it abundantly clear that he is the long-term owner of the Dodgers and he looks forward to the day when his four boys will own and operate the team.”

I’ll grant them the irresponsible stuff, but I don’t believe I’m going to sit here and let them accuse me of committing journalism. I’m a blogger, dammit. But I told the team that I’d run their denial of my report, and dadgummit I did. But a couple of thoughts:

How can it be erroneous and inaccurate to say that there was a rumor of something? Just saying there's a rumor of something makes it a rumor . . .

Yea, this is how the cable news channels get away with claiming ridiculous stuff.

[4] Maybe the Wilpons will sell the Mets in order to buy the Dodgers from McCourt and move them back to Brooklyn. (Hey, if the NFL has no team in LA, why should MLB?) :)

Those damn commies didn't have any currency, so I don't really see the point.

Unless we want to talk about the Ferengi. But nobody really wants to do that. (I looked up "Ferengi" to see if I spelled it right. I'm disappointed to find that I did. The line must be drawn here!)

I notice this quote has been removed from the post and replaced with 'is only gonna make the women want me even more'. I suppose NBC disliked the notion that it employs anyone that isn't engaged in journalism and axed it.

Worst racist caricature: Ferengi, Ewoks, or Cylons? Discuss.

How is an Ewok racist? It isn't even a hunan. Msytic teddy bears aint racist.

But I think you are forgetting Jar-Jar Binks for that list. Hell the Empire was racist towards white people. And who is the token black dude in the Empire? Darth Vader, a short fused psychopath that kills his own peeps and abandoned his baby's momma and beats his children. D.W. Griffiths couldn't have done it better.

The Ewoks represented indigenous groups that live with nature. By making ewoks little snotty bears, with a low level of intelligence and seemed to make 'noise', George Lucas was saying that indigenous groups are dumb. Also, apprently they were speaking Tagalog so, that's an easy way to link it to racism.

I don't see any way to read Craig's post except as an earnest plea for our take on Sir Henry Rawlinson.

The Ewoks were teddy bears, albeit teddy bears who apparently spoke the language of these guys.

That little flying guy who tried to sell Liam Neeson spaceship parts in Episode 1 is probably a worse caricature than the Ewoks. And let's not even talk about those "ahh brockade is pelfectly regal" Trade Federation people.

I think most people are trying to pretend the prequel trilogy never happened.

But they didn't have a low level of intelligence, in fact they were very smart. Those little teddy bears took on the Empire and beat'em.

geez, after those ZIPs projections, one can hardly blame the dodgers for not being active in the free agent market. the team's a contender as is.
