Baseball Primer Newsblog— The Best News Links from the Baseball Newsstand

Jeesh, for a station that shows “Scream Benigno Scream” at least three times a day…you’d think they wouldn’t care about this stuff.
Prior to the start of the season, Matthew Cerrone joined forces with the Mets and SportsNet New York in a deal to have MetsBlog.com appear on SNY’s Web site. This was followed by a lot of yap-flapping out of Metsville (and MetsBlog) about MetsBlog being able to continue doing its thing.
On Thursday, MetsBlog posted a YouTube video of Joe Smith going mouth-to-mouth (”You ain’t s— … I’m in the big leagues you idiot”) with Cubs fans. Spies say when a Mets official was made aware of the video’s presence, he had it immediately pulled off MetsBlog.
For MetsBlog, and its fans, that’s called livin’ in a corporate world.
If SNY is hellbent ridding itself of any questionable associations, where’s the censors for Chris Cotter’s haircut?

1. The Kids Are Enright (1k5v3L)Not that there's anything wrong with that.
So there's that.
From my experience, MLBAM is awfully quick to have video content removed from YouTube when they feel their copyright has been violated. In this instance, the video is still up. However, the embedded clip isn't on MetsBlog. Would MLBAM order one blog to remove the clip, but ignore how the same content has ended up on several other blogs over the past 24 hours?
If this was caught on a broadcast and removed, you'd have a point.
The Mets exert no influence over SNY.tv content, including anything on MetsBlog.
This might well be the case. But the footage in question seems to have been shot well before a game took place. Smith's wearing his batting practice jersey and cap and the stands are far from full...surely MLBAM can't claim this footage interferes with their ability to sell game webcasts and video highlights?
And again, if the issue is that MLBAM's copyright has been violated --- rather than Smith being portrayed in a less than positive light --- why hasn't MLBAM approached YouTube to remove the clip? They've rarely been shy in doing so previously.
In lieu of an explanation from MetsBlog it does seem curious that said clip would be posted and removed....yet continues to be embedded on other blogs.
"The Mets exert no influence over SNY.tv content, including anything on MetsBlog."
Seriously? You expect us to believe the Mets have no say in who calls their games on SNY? Though a call might not have come specifically from the Mets, the club's ownership has a financial stake in both MLBAM and SNY.
