I was so hoping to discover that there was a Third-World Baseball Classic.

Oh well.

So who is expected to defect while over seas?

People have been expecting/hoping Gourriel would defect for years now, but it's generally agreed to be unlikely because he is very close to his father, who is a coach in Cuba. Alfredo Despaigne broke Cespede's single-season HR record, but I dunno.

I kind of doubt anybody will defect though. They usually don't defect during the big events where everybody is watching. They do it durign smaller events. Disappear from their hotel room in Guatemala or the Netherlands or something and then pop up somewhere with an agent.
