Cubs fan finds autographed Cardinals hat on I-74

Get that fella’s number! Get his number!.

Somewhere out there, someone is missing a baseball cap.

A 2011 World Series championship baseball cap apparently autographed by Series MVP David Freese, All-Star catcher Yadier Molina, relief pitcher Jason Motte and a few more St. Louis Cardinals.

Joe Couri found the cap on an off-ramp along Interstate 74, and he’d like to return it to the original owner. That’s if the original owner can prove ownership.

“He better have a picture of himself wearing it,” Couri says.

Oh, TLR mentioned to me that the hat that a few players autographed for him as a keepsake had blown off on the way home from the game. It happened when he took it off, just for a second, to check and see if he needed to touch up his hair dye before going out for the night. I know he'll be thrilled to know it's in safe hands. Just send it to me, care of BBTF, and I'll make sure it gets to him.

You're not getting your hands on my Cardinals hat that easily, charityslave. I saw two guys take it off Nick Punto's head and play keepaway with it until he ran off in tears. Then they lost interest and stuffed it in a urinal, from which I extracted it hours later.

Yeah, I heard they took his lunch money, too.
