D-Backs Legends Race

Luis Gonzalez gave Tara Hitchcock [sic] on the new D-Backs Legends Race, a new between-inning promotion following the fifth inning of every home game for the remaining home games this season and beyond.
The race, which is presented by Henkel, will feature Gonzalez, Mark Grace, Matt Williams and Randy Johnson.

I once saw Mark Grace race as a sausage at Miller Park. For purposes of symmetry, a sausage must now race as Mark Grace at Chase Field.

Grace is a legend because there are more Cubs fans in Arizona than D-Backs fans in the state.

Yeah, I totally think of Grace as a Cub.

As alluded to in the intro, I am very surprised Curt Schilling was not chosen.

I was discussing with my friend whether the hypothetical Marlins mascot race of Jeff Conine vs. Luis Castillo vs. Dontrelle Willis vs. Mike Lowell would be a better representation of franchise history than these guys are of Arizona's. We disagreed (I said yes, he no), but in any event, those are probably the two most inappropriate franchises to do this promotion ;-)
