Dale Sveum shot by Robin Yount

Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum was accidentally hit in the ear with shrapnel while hunting this offseason with Hall of Famer Robin Yount.

The two were hunting quail in Arizona when Yount bagged a bird, but also Sveum.

Yount took advice on bagging game from Cheney, rather than Grace.

Sveum said he didn't receive stitches but did refer to Yount as former vice president Dick Cheney, who famously shot a friend while hunting.

dale stating that he has the shotgun spray fall on him regularly is disconcerting. i hunted for decades with a shotgun and always followed the simple but effective safety protocols. these guys are trying to cover too much ground per walk thru is my guess

Jonny Venters, whose favorite clubhouse downtime activity is making up anagrams, will have a lot of time to think up some more (his favorite for "Billy Wagner" is "Win grey ball"), after injuring his index finger in a freak collision with a shrimp in one of the biggest airport terminals in Atlanta, and will have to hope he isn't Wally Pipped when his innings are taken by Mike Minor, who is feeling very tame right now because of his rocking chair, and Brandon Beachy.

The Athletics had interest in dealing for Dustin Ackley until they learned he will miss eight months after crashing his boat into a tree. Billy Beane may now inquire about D.J. Mitchell, who pried Ackley loose from the wreckage with a pie, because that's just how loud he is.

not just that, but they likely had little strategy between themselves in terms of protocol. know your target and beyond and this doesn't happen.

Some 1 told me to come to this thread Al whats the big deal Yount shoots Sveum this is no thing new. Hall of Aimers have been trying to shoot bad manganers since Hector was a Pup. Half the time I would go to the Cell back in the day and Tom Seaver would be sitting outside the clubhouse trying to get a clear shot at Ozzie Guillen. Wed travel to Cleve. and youd see Bob Feller filing little crosses into the tips of his bullets to use on Eric Wedge. My favorite was going duck hunting up in Wisc. with AJ 1 summer and next thing you know Ned Yost is running like hell across a clearing from Henry Aaron chasing him in a Sherman Tank. Al you have no idea what goes on in the off seizon.
