Dan Patrick on “The Price is Right”?!?

Be sure to spay or neuter ... Jay Crawford, Harold Reynolds and Woody Paige?

Dan Patrick of ESPN has been contacted by the producers of the game show The Price is Right in an effort to see if the ESPN television and radio personality would be interested in hosting the show. Auditions are being held to replace retired host Bob Barker, and Patrick might be on a short list to audition.

It’s gotta be the end of the world.

Rick Reilly and Keith Olbermann posing around the prizes in the showcase showdown? I can see Olbermann cutting the contestant off with, "you know Dan, many of these prizes were made in sweatshops in a 3rd World country."

They need someone considerably more sweet than Dan Patrick.

Although, this is much better than the Rosie O'Donnell rumor a friend of mine told me the other day. My response was "I'd rather have her in charge of all the world's nuclear weapons than host the Price is Right."

I wonder which scenario would lead to the end of the world faster...

Does anyone seriously think Patrick is going to look anything but annoyed as an overweight Midwestern woman jumps up and down next to him, tries to kiss him, and then reaches into his pocket for $100? Does anyone think Patrick can describe the rules of Plinko without sounding like he's putting air-quotes around all of it?

I'd say the 12:35 slot on NBC opens up in two years, but the serious rumor is they're going with Jimmy Fallon. I guess having two good late night shows is something NBC cannot abide. Carson Daly would be a less sucky choice than Jimmy Fallon.

I don't think Carson Daly is that bad, it's just that he brings nothing to the table. At all. He doesn't actively piss me off, anyway, but I think that's because he seems like a decent guy, just overmatched as a host of anything but TRL.

That cracked me up trying to picture it. Just give the gig to Stuart Scott. He seems like he'd be more enjoyable than Dan Patrick.

Richard Karn would be a fantastic choice - he was as good and natural a host as I've ever seen for a game show when he was on Family Feud. I'm not clear on what the circumstances surrounding his leaving that show were though.

Yes, exactly. He comes across as very friendly, unforced, intelligent, and endearing. I'd even say he'd be better than Bob Barker. And to top it off, I'd love to hear Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show tease "Al Borland" in his monologues.

Anything that gets Jimmy Fallon to stop making movies is fine with me.
