Dave Cameron Blink Watch: Cameron vs. Rob Neyer | NotGraphs Baseball

He just didn’t want to miss anything.

With the advent of the offseason, FanGraphs managing editor has resumed his role on MLB Network’s Clubhouse Confidential, hosted by the vigorously coiffed Brian Kenny.

One thing Cameron hasn’t resumed is blinking — although mostly because he did little of that sort of thing in the first place.

That's what David Cameron looks like? Also, he totally does not blink ever.

I'm totally going to replace "a deer in the headlights" with a "stathead in the TV lights" in my dictionary of cliches.

Last tme I saw Neyer on the MLB network, he was wearing glasses that gave him a True Nerd look. This was better, but I bet he'd win an Emmy if he broadcast in plaid.

This made me laugh out loud more than once. Neyer is apparently shaking off a Mr. Fuji backstage salt attack while Cameron has clearly been sent from the future to terminate someone.

Re: Neyer I'm not sure what to think about the upgrade from flannel shirt to thrift store blazer but it seems to be quite the wrong size. Also, Neyer generally sounds like someone who has overcome a serious stammering problem; I always feel a little uneasy listening to him. Brian Kenny is probably the only "sabermetric" voice I can think of that comes across as comfortable on TV or radio.

Really, based on listening to him on the FG podcast, he just sounds so much more gaunt and hollow chested.

Frankly I prefer the version of the Dave Cameron character in my head to the one they built for the screen.

That was a 3 and a half minute long video and Cameron did not blink once.

Look, I'll be honest, that kind of creeps me out.

#2 wins.

Is unblinkingness a skill that can be learned? I was pretty amazed by Madge Bellamy's ability to sit still without blinking in White Zombie, once she became the title character, and wonder if that's why she was cast.
