Deadspin: Former Blue Jay Kelly Gruber Disinvited From Canadian Baseball Hall Of Fame Festivities

That’s Gruber making an excruciatingly awkward, jarringly hostile entrance at PitchTalks, immediately making what seems to be some kind of pass at host Ashley Docking, then responding to her effort to direct his attention to the crowd by shouting over her and declaring her inessential to the proceedings. Docking, to her enormous credit, manages to confront his wildly disrespectful behavior without punching him in the face, which is probably what he deserved.

Is he drunk? Seems like he might be drunk!

Should have had Rance Mulliniks there to platoon with him.

Looks like Gruber is going with the "Palmeiro" in response, or as we call it here in Illinois, the "Blagojevich":

“There’s two sides to every story and I would love to tell mine,” Gruber said. “Maybe what I said was taken the wrong way. My intention for being there was to honor my teammate and buddy Lloyd, and the interview part went south for a variety of reasons which I will detail at a later date.”

New York gets a drunk Joe Namath trying to kiss Suzie Kulber; Toronto gets Kelly Gruber?

That's rich when the entire thing is on the video everyone just saw, start to finish. Wow was that awful.

The ol' "I would love to tell my side of the story which will explain everything and excuse my behavior but this moment, when the media is actually paying attention to me and people would have the chance to hear what I say is not the right time to do it. It is better to wait a few weeks until everybody has forgotten about this incident by which time there will be no point in me re-opening old wounds by telling my side of the story."

I'm sure it was just an hommage to Rod Sterling.

Later details: "I was drunk as f*ck and I'm an #######."

Lloyd

Waner? Andrew Webber? Pink F?

Moseby. It's the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame inductions.

Waner? Andrew Webber? Pink F?

I'll admit that when I first saw that I thought "Graeme Lloyd? Really?" ... then realized it had to be Moseby.

From the way Gruber acted, I was thinking it was Lloyd Christmas.

Poor Manuel.

yeah, Gruber was a world class jerk there.

But the writer here, Chris T., just endorsed assault. Since when is vigilante justce encouraged as a punishment for being really obnoxious? It's very sexist, too; you know he wouldn't have written it if the male/female roels were reversed. I know we all FEEL good when the bad guy gets his, but... sorry dude, what you wrote was wrong.
