Deadspin: Lisa The Ball Girl Reduced The Padres’ Announcers To Puddles Of Goo

Dick Enberg is no rookie. He’s one of the most experienced (and generally respected) sportscasters we have, but when Lisa the Padres Ball Girl impressively gloved a streaking line drive last night, it sent him and broadcast partner Mark Grant into high school hysterics. Suddenly, Enberg can’t form meaningful sentences and Grant settles for THAT WAS AWESOME! In the end, Enberg can’t muster much more than “Hubba! Hubba!”

The Ranger announcers were also highly complimentary of Lisa's skills. They have a rather high standard since ballgirl performance at Arlington is particularly good. Impressive performances in the critical "warm up the outfielder between innings" skill. They make "throws like a girl" a compliment.

I like how she brushes away the glove of the grabby fan to give the ball to a kid.

Yes they do. Since I can't even break a pane of glass when I throw a baseball, it irritates me to no end when I watch them warming up the outfielders. I always think, "How can she have a better arm than I do? She's a girl for crying out loud!"

They can't seriously expect us to swallow that goo.

Always liked a girl in a baseball cap. Now I have to include helmets too.

I have very little doubt that my sister and mother throw better than an easy half of the posters here. And my mom is almost 70.

I would guess that I'm right on the margin. Though I was quite proud of myself last month...I threw my first ever slider in a game and it was a perfect back-door called third strike on the outside corner. I don't think I'll ever bother trying to throw one again because in practice I get about 1 in 5 sliders to actually slide, and 1 in 5 of those actually go where I intended. Going out on top!

EDIT: Speaking of arms, our club had this 17 year old kid try out baseball for the first time (he has background in cricket). We were practicing relays and he picked up a ball at the LF wall (just over 300 feet) and threw it over the heads of SS, 1B around the mound, and the catcher.

Enberg: She's a B.B.
Grant: A B.B.?
Enberg: Yeah, a B.B. Beautiful ballgirl.

Mark Grace "Coulda hit the fan right in the soup coolers!"

? Too hip for me.

Enberg: Yeah, a B.B. Beautiful ballgirl.

Offensive. Have some respect, she's a Beautiful Ball Woman, or BBW.

Soup-Coolers
pronounced (soop-koolers) (Noun), Unusually large lips.
*Also know as "booty-Lips".
She needs to put some lip-gloss on those soup-coolers.

How's your mom feel about Atlanta area coed softball? Sis? C'mon, you want me to meet your sister, man.

Always liked a girl in a baseball cap.

Yeah. With a ponytail sticking out the back and sweatpants so you can see her wiggle...

I always think, "How can she have a better arm than I do? She's a girl for crying out loud!"

I used to play catch with a girl who played softball at Penn and she had a great arm. Made the ball hum and was deadly accurate. I could throw harder than she could, barely, but she had way more control. It was incredibly hot and it removed any general notions I had about girls throwing.

You know who "throws like a girl?" Girls and boys who don't throw things regularly.

It was incredibly hot

girls who can play ball > girls who cannot play ball

My throwing arm is the Juan Pierre equivalent of the male with moderate athletic ability general population.

The way any proper Yankee feels about Georgia.

So she'll be moving to the northern suburbs of Atlanta soon?

Exactly. She wasn't a freak athlete or anything, just someone who was taught how to throw when she was young and then spent a lot of her life throwing a ball.
