Deadspin: Mark Teixeira’s Fake Talk Show Is Actually Pretty Funny

I had no idea that Mark Teixeira has a fake talk show, which comes off as some kind of cross between Between Two Ferns and The Chris Farley Show, and I am upset about that because Foul Territory with Mark Teixeira is pretty funny. This is a surprising development, as I always just assumed that Mark Teixeira had the personality of a lukewarm glass of milk.

That's actually brilliant. Much better than I would have expected.

Same here, even though I've always assumed that the side of players we see in post-game interviews doesn't have much relation to reality. The pablum they give out to the media is mostly just business.

Not bad. Teixeira is not as famous as jocks who host SNL, but based on this, I think he could do a pretty good job if they brought him on. I remember when Peyton Manning hosted SNL a few years back (I don't watch it) a couple of people telling me, "Manning was actually funny." I have since watched a couple of the sketches on-line, and Manning was in fact good.

Reminds me of "Money Talks" with Brian Johns from SCTV. Very funny.

The Manning united way sketch is great.

That Twitter/Facebook gag: I laughed.

Also, I still want to see a picture of Teixeira standing next to Rachel Maddow.

The Brian Johns sketches were brilliant. The cougar and her kept stud, Eugene Levy played it beautifully clueless.

It's right up there with Mel's Rockpile as Levy's best.

Nah, Teixeira is a dead ringer for Joe DiMaggio. I'm sort of surprised nobody else sees the resemblance.

I read this comparison on this website maybe 5 years ago and I still cannot unsee it.

hmm, Maddow is much closer.

Other random look-alikes. Robin Ventura sort of looks like a cross between Jimmy Kimmel and New Yorker editor David Remnick.

Ivan Nova reminds me of Carmelo Anthony.

One of things that made this sketch quite good: It's a little under three minutes. It's quick, it's funny, and the "guest" plays it straighter than I could...worth watching.

I love how Teixeira can keep a straight face but none of his guests can.

Deadpan is a skill - and like so many things in life, it's harder than it looks.

His coffee question to Jack Curry made me laugh out loud. This was really enjoyable. His timing is outstanding.
