Good thing it wasn't a Love Crime.

Good thing he's not friends with Joe Eszterhas.

Wow, he yells one slur and gives a guy what's decribed as a "scratch"... and he could be in jail for a year? Did Delmon Young drunkenly stumble into the Seinfeld finale?

Worse. He ran afoul of the thought police.

Manager Jim Leyland snapped at a reporter who asked about Young after Detroit's fifth straight loss.

"Get lost, get lost, get lost," Leyland said. "Do yourself a favor and get lost."

Whew! Imagine what might have happened had the reporter been wearing a yarmulke on his head and a Star of David around his neck.

A panhandler wearing a yarmulke and a Star of David around his neck? Is this some religious clown thing?

Aggravated harassment probably covers a broader spectrum of assholery than just yelling a slur and causing a scratch. Some of which may well deserve a year.

Look, there's no place for sensible comments and reasonable opinions here. You can either argue that Young is a galloping anti-Semite who should be banned from the game, hung, drawn and quarter (and have his children taken away) or you can believe that this is just another example of the "thought police."

He could also be hit by a meteor.

The single most likely outcome is some form of Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal.

What I want to know is what Pat Buchanan thinks. Does he side with the black guy or the Jewish guy?

Whichever of them had an ancestor touch a toe to the lower 48 first.

The courts can arrange to have him hit by a meteor? You'd think folks would be more law-abiding out of sheer terror.

I'd love to hear who Ron Paul--er, his "ghost-writer" rather-is rooting for.

Yeah, people need to get out of their basements and go watch an arraignment sometimes.
