Denver Post.com - Klis: Aging superstars sad to watch

According to this writer Cal Ripken Jr., Tony Gwynn, Rickey Henderson and Mark McGwire should simply retire. So far this season, I’ve only seen Ripken play. He wasn’t fun to watch. I’ll try to watch the other three soon. Can anyone who has watched any of them play this year add any info?

They'll play until every team tells them they can't play anymore. In some ways, I have to respect that.

If they decide to play amateur 40+ ball when their MLB days are over, or go on to coaching (not managing) I'll respect them even more.

At the very least it provides some ammo to fire back at teh Don Sutton types who insist today's players won't have long careers like him and his generation, because they'll make a lot of money early and won't have any incentive to stay
