DePodesta: It Might Be Dangerous… You Go First

Plaschke was right!

I began thinking about hosting a blog about a year ago, and back in January I took the first big step by starting an internal blog for employees of the Padres. The idea all along was to someday create an external blog to engage in a direct dialogue with our fans. Well, given the events of the past few weeks, that “someday” is now.

...Nevertheless, hopefully you’ll find it useful to have some unfiltered access to our internal conversations and feelings. We’ll have to figure out the rules as we go since I won’t be able to share everything, but I think it’s important to open this avenue right now.

So, I’m here, and I’d like to be a part of the conversation. I’ll do my best to reply to comments/questions, though I can’t promise punctual responses or regular posts. After all, just like everyone else out there, I already have a job. :-)

Hit me with whatever you have and let’s get out of this slump together.

Thanks to Can’t Stop the Bleeding.

Good move keeping the neutral color scheme/title, Paul. That way you won't have to change anything once you take over the Giants!

Does Buzz Bissinger know he's joined the ranks of the hateful, potty-mouthed morons?

Is he writing from his mom's basement, or the basement of Dodger Stadium?

I guess he's not expecting Cubs fans to read the blog.

Why would he be at Dodger stadium?

Simer's original novel is set in early twenty first-century Los Angeles at the Stadium Dodger, which was built between 1961 and 1962. During construction it became necessary to pump underground water from the foundation pit of the building, creating a huge subterranean river. The employees claim that the stadium is haunted by a mysterious ghost who wreaks chaos and destruction when displeased. Paul, a horribly deformed sabermetric genius known as the "Laptop Boy", uses this facade to send the managers of the Los Angeles Dodgers of Los Angeles repeated threats of catastrophe should they not pay him a monthly salary of 20,000 pesos and perpetually reserve Box Five for him at every game. This arrangement, unbroken during the many years of the manager's tenure, is abruptly terminated when two new proprietors, Ned Colletti and Tommy Lasorda, take over the team and refuse to give in to what they view as the empty threats, thinking that it is a practical joke by the former manager.

With every new blog born, Bob Costas dies a little inside.
