Dibble away from booth after criticizing Strasburg

Dismissed… as… coincidence…

Nationals TV analyst and former major league reliever Rob Dibble will take two days off following his criticism of injured Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg, according to The Baltimore Sun….

MASN spokesman Todd Webster told the newspaper that Dibble is “taking a few days off.” Webster said Dibble requested the time off, but he wouldn’t comment on whether it was because of Dibble’s criticism of the rookie righthander.

Over/Under on career innings for Strasburg: 1000.

I'm taking the under.

I don't know. . . it's not like these are major injuries. They're precautionary benchings of a very young pitcher who's on an innings limit for the season. Plenty of pitchers have had Tommy John surgery and stuff like that and gone on to long careers.

I hear studies show that nine of ten people who gleefully predicts the imminent demise of young pitchers go bald and impotent in three years time.

So you're saying I've got nothing to lose. Cool.

Phil Hughes, you're doomed.

I know what you are saying and I'm not trying to be snarky. I was just curious though...there have been 3643 pitchers that have started their career since 1969 and only 398 of them have thrown more than 1000 innings. I like your chances on the over/under.

And of those 398, how many had TJ surgery so early in their careers?

Well, I look stupid now.
