Hiring people because it makes for good TV seems to be a theme for Miami teams.

I have watched the series. But it was through "schadenfreude glasses" to reaffirm my hatred for Loria and his Mini-Me.

I guess the marketing slogan for the 2012 Miami Marlins should be "Straight to DVD"

Marlins 2012 Season Not Renewed by MLB Network, Team Faces Cancellation

Miami, FL - MLB Network has announced it is not picking up the 2013 season of the Miami Marlins and will cancel the remainder of episodes for the 2012 season. The Marlins began the year with positive reviews from critics, but a lackluster summer led to slumping ratings, causing the network to not renew the show for 2013.

"It was a difficult decision because of some of interesting storylines, but viewers never identified with the zany Ozzie Guillen character and we were never able to get a foothold with the 18-39 demographic," said director of programming Bud Selig.

The Marlins were conceived this year as an ensemble piece, with producers bringing in comedy veterans Jose Reyes ("The Mets") and Mark Buerhle ("The White Sox Show"), but the newcomers failed to build chemistry with fresh unknowns like Logan Morrison. Show bad-boy Hanley Ramirez also struggled to take a backseat and was ultimately let go by producers.

"Reyes was coming off a great year with his success in the dark comedy 'The Mets', but Hanley could never adjust to not being the star anymore," said one industry insider.

There are still rumors "The Marlins" may get picked up by CW or even TBS, but with the high costs of production, many of the top stars may not be back. Some have speculated that Mark Buerhle might be let go in favor of a someone cheaper like Nate Eovaldi ("The Dodgers") or Adam Rodriguez ("CSI: Miami").

A few fans have tried to mount a write-in campaign to save the show, but only a handful of letters have been sent thus far.

I don't even watch Marlins games at this point, and I get them "for free" as part of my DirecTV package. I sure as he|| aint gonna pay for Showtime to watch this train wreck of a documentary. Besides, we get that after every game on the local news shows as the universal translator chokes on the latest Ozzie spewage.

The one must-see Marlin is Giancarlo Stanton's ABs just to see how far he will whack the next pitch.

They need to have Ozzie marry Kim Kardashian in a two hour extravaganza and bring in Kris Humphries, or whatever his name is, to raise objections. Then they can have Jose Reyes and Logan Morrison arrested for knocking over a liquor store.
