(Obviously he sure wasn't the right guy to pick today. That counts for something, too.)

Hoover, broxton, marshall or hell simon would have been preferred.
It's sad that there is a need to explain this to people. Homefield doesn't matter nearly as much in baseball post season as in other sports.
Not even popup pence coming to bat can cause me to swear at the moment though....
it's the 1.377 whip by a reliever that should make one take notice. I wouldn't trust any reliever with over a 1.200 whip.
But other than that, hokieneer is on-point.
Yeah, thanks. Missed it.
I count 67 active (in 2012) players who played in MLB in the 1900s.
If we lose Vizquel, Thome(?), Miguel Batista, Chipper and Darren Oliver for 2013, that would leave ARod ('94) as the longest-lasting player.
The class of '95 (8 current players) has some back-from-the-dead types in Suppan, Izzy, and Pettitte. I think Suppan's seen his last mound but Izzy and Pettitte both still seem effective...
I'm just glad dusty hasnt over used the horses in the pen. We'll need them tomorrow with a near ace that usually goes 6 or 7 plus arroyo and Bailey to back him up.
Oh great now he will throw 4 straight to Votto to make me look stupid...
He hits popups? I haven't noticed many of those. I have noticed eight million weaka$$ groundballs, and another eight million swingthrough strike threes.
Until Clemens comes back.
Did I understand that right? Next year A-rod could be the longest tenured player in baseball, and that contract runs through 2017.
And thanks for bringing up 2002
Spit my drink out laughing when I read that
That's only 5 years.
Based on today? Yeah, probably.
Based on today? Yeah, probably.
Probably, and sensibly, but on the other hand, he's been so effective in both of these long relief appearances, I might be tempted to just have him handle this role. It's a valuable weapon to have in postseason circumstances in which you want to have a struggling starter on a very short leash.
Of course you can. That's what they did in all three rounds in 2010. Zito was never on the active roster in that postseason.
I am with you Steve. But if we have 2010 Timmy back, I like that 1-2.
Another question is do you start the hot Arias tomorrow night and bench Crawford. I say yes, but I worry that the bench is getting thin, when you are carrying Huff over there.
or a starting LF.
What I meant was, is it like an injury and you lose the option of having Zito brought back for the WS.

No, you can take a guy off the active roster for one round, and put him back on for the next. It's only if you DL a guy and have him replaced during a round that he's ineligible for the next round.
Well, whether Crawford or Arias starts, the rest of the bench remains what it is.
EDIT - I should have typed "tomorrow night's checklist - if the Giants hold on for the win."
I think it's up to the official scorer.
Former Cub farmhand. I believe they picked him up via Rule 5.
As I said, victory breeds indifference.

(Jeter couldn't stop him this time)
Its the stadium! It sucks
And then the new stadium came, and ruined everything by pricing out the madmen and replaced them with, well, Mad Men.
Right?
