No, it would have been a routine play. If he hadn't misread it and come in first, hadn't reversed his field too slowly, hadn't jogged back when he did. Before sprinting too late.
No Coke. Great minds think alike. :-)
Not lame at all. Now if the Yankees push the Orioles out and we wind up with NYY vs. Detroit, that would be lame.
It's plays like that where I sympathize just a little bit with the stereotypical dumb baseball fan because it just makes me want to scream "put some effort into it!! Act like you care about winning the game!!"
Cardinals had the second best record in the NL(in 2006) with about 3 weeks to go. They honestly just didn't give a #### how many games they won the last three weeks of the season.
I don't think you understand the magnitude of social opprobrium that can leveled by the typical pinky-in-the-air non-cheering fan towards those of us in the high-dollar seats who do cheer, even wimpily. Not all knives are made of metal.
(Yes, I love hyphenated adjectives.)
ve had enough bases loaded dissapointment today. let's get it done!
(GRABS OXYGEN)
Which shouldn't be a surprise. They've been doing this for a month now.
Mickey Mantle
Andruw Jones
Miguel Cabrera
Manny Machado
And even the bleachers have been muted somewhat in the new stadium. At most of the games I've been to, security generally tries to make people behave themselves, which results in a noticeably less boisterous crowd during the down periods of games. As a whole, I don't consider this is a negative thing though.
Please, they almost went the entire season pulling off that trick.
Arod needs to do something
Well I'm sure none of them wore as much eye black as Bryce Harper
:weeps into Nats commemorative rally towel:
But Harveys just made a Call Me Maybe joke. It kind of blew my mind, which says a lot about one of us.
Replay... huh, good call. Seems like most hitters can hold it from that point.

always good for a laugh
well, neither did steve bartman and by all accounts he was a huge cub fan
Gonzalez has had the best start of this series so far.
Though we do live in the post-bartman world, everyone can learn from his example.
EDIT, or what Harveys said in #591
Former Red Sox farmhand, was out of affiliated ball for a few years, signed by Baltimore to be a AAA reliever.
a new 'yankee killer'?
That is some fine, fine announcing.
but accurate
a number of the swings have been ridiculously bad on both sides. is there a contest and just the players know about it?
'hey, my swing there was really bad'
'no, no, mine was way worse'
