It ain't over yet. But I am very, very close to handing out congratulations to Tigers fans.
The Cardinals have been doing it like every inning.
On old primer I'd post this as Johan Santana:
Santana best 3 consecutive: 231 IP per, 166 ERA+, .963 WHIP, 9.7 K/9, 5.1 K/BB, 0.9 HR/9
Verlander last 2 seasons: 245 IP per, 165 ERA+, .987 WHIP, 9.0 K/9, 4.2 K/BB, 0.8 HR/9
That's pretty much a tossup to me.
A 22-oz can ought to do it.
Also: JJ Hardy! He's actually kind of one of my favorite players, for reasons I've never been able to explain.
Yep, I can't see Verlander getting yanked unless he starts to get smacked around.
Verlander last 2 seasons: 245 IP per, 165 ERA+, .987 WHIP, 9.0 K/9, 4.2 K/BB, 0.8 HR/9
Halladay, '09-'11: 241 IP per, 163 ERA+, 1.069 WHIP, 8.1 K/9, 6.5 K/BB, 0.7 HR/9
In other news: Hardy!
It's the soul patch.
I'd want seven runs. Benoit will give up a walk and a homer. Then Valverde will let in about four runs.
I don't usually say #### like this, but if Ichiro gave up on it, it probably wasn't catchable.
I usually grin, and then wonder how, if Wood checked the ivy before every game, he never found Dawson before.
I did too, the first 20 times I saw it. The 200 times since...?
I'm surprised everyone let this slide on by.
DEREK LOWE!
I've been listening to the 1st round on my iPhone mostly, so I've only seen it 19 times. That's probably the difference.
Nepotism. And incompetent superiors.
Also, is A-Rod due up third in the bottom of this inning? Oy.
Ibanez is going to don a fake 'stache and PH for him.
You're fine with Dawson living in the ivy for 15 years, but that bothers you?
P.S. plus the fact that he ended his career with the Marlins.
But I still feel like Verlander feels more dominant than Santana and Halladay.
A-Rod's got this.
JUSTIN VERLANDER IS AMAZING
It's been the same zone for everyone.
Verlander was ridiculous that inning.
Wait, how did he get those odds? Unless I'm missing something, that seems extremely favorable.
Just because...Pedro, '97-00: 226 IP, 219 ERA+, .925 WHIP, 11.5 K/9, .7 HR per
Unit, '99-02: 258 IP at 187 ERA+, 12.4 K/9
Maddux, '92-95: 237 IP at 203 ERA+, 0.3 HR/9
Clemens, '90-92, 249 IP at 180; ERA+, among others
Crazy to have all four of those guys at once. Not meant to take away from Verlander, of course, who is obviously outstanding.
Presumably, some of what other people have lost in the ivy has been edible.
I do wonder what happened in the game in which he got lost, though. Did nobody notice that the Cubs were suddenly short an outfielder?
As I noted in my edited post above, Dawson ended his career with the Marlins.
Not in the alternate universe in which this commercial occurs, obviously.
And that takes us to... Game 20!
