Division Six OmniChatter

By the end of the day, at least two teams will be eliminated since baseball is a cruel sport and October is a harsh mistress. Or something like that.

I considered Green Day, as Billie Joe Armstrong is from around there, but given that MC Hammer is going to be throwing out first pitch, I decided I'd honor his bat boy days.

I don't understand what the announcers are saying. There was no shot at third because Machado wasn't near the bag.

He is? That's great. I wonder if they've ever done the same for his former A's coworker Mrs. Fields.

New York Times, July 2008
SPONSORING STRIKEOUTS The Yankees are not selling the naming rights to their new stadium, but they have found a way to sell plays on the field. Since the All-Star break, every time a Yankees pitcher records a strikeout, the P.C. Richard whistle plays over the loudspeakers as part of a sponsorship deal.

This is annoying: here in Canada Rogers has got the NFL on the main channel, and sent the playoffs to the channel they normally reserve for the game that starts while the earlier game is still in progress. So I can't watch the Tigers.

I think an ace in an elimination game is less valuable than an ace in the games before it, because the other team will pull their starter at the first sign of trouble, rather than letting him give up four or five runs before pulling him (to save the bullpen).

In 2009 I saw someone in Baltimore with a Teixeira Orioles jersey. It was so sad.

Also, the Orioles are lucky they didn't sign Teixeira. He wouldn't have helped them when he was still outstanding, and he'd be helping them now, but cost way too much.
