Division Six OmniChatter

By the end of the day, at least two teams will be eliminated since baseball is a cruel sport and October is a harsh mistress. Or something like that.

Local commercial here in SW Florida for Mel's Diner. Always make me remember Vic Tayback.

A few years ago I was in Florida and some guy spent about 15 minutes explaining in great detail the free hat he got at Mel's with breakfast a few days before. He was very excited about the hat.

EDIT: Got confused, Matt Cain is at bat, not pitching, MCoA is right, dammit.

On the original, the ball went through Conrad's legs, IIRC. There was no play on it.

Pagan grounded to short and Crawford broke for home. Cozart tried to throw the ball before he'd caught it. He bobbled it and didn't get off a throw to either base.

Infield in, Crawford on 3rd, one out. Ball hit to Cozart, somewhat sharply, he looked like he didn't know whether to go home or 1b ( Crawford broke on the ba toted ball). He dropped the ball, everybody safe.

MCoA called it all at the start of the inning. I just don't know how you let a struggling pitcher face a guy like Posey in that spot. That's the end of the Reds season right there in all likelihood.

Really hard to blame Dusty. Latos was cruising, and should have had two out none on even after the two runs scored. There wasn't time to get the pen going, I don't think.

Why would Latos throw a cutter on 2-2 with the bases loaded and one out? That's a situation where you absolutely must get the out, via strikeout if at all possible. Why throw your third pitch there? Why throw a pitch you use to pitch to contact? Why throw the pitch that Brandon Crawford just stung down the line a few hitters ago? I guess he was thinking GIDP, but with two strikes, I really don't like that pitch call.

I still think Cain's stuff and command are looking strong. That was a good pitch, just a dumb sequence. You can't throw Brandon Phillips two identical fastballs back to back.

There have been 17 LDS seasons played so far which means there have been 34 NLDS played. 21 out of 34 have featured a team up 2-0? That seems surprising to me. I would think 1-1 is a more common result than 2-0 particularly when you are talking about series with roughly evenly matched teams.
