My bad, I should have been more specific and said since '95.

Probabilistically, 2-0 and 1-1 should be equally probable given evenly matched teams (i.e. you're giving 50/50 odds on each game). However, the first two games one team is at home, so if you give them say a 67% chance of winning each game, they're 44% to be 2-0 (with the road team 11% to be 2-0), and a total of ~56% for the series to be 2-0 and ~44% to be 1-1. 21/34 is ~62%, which is high but not out of line.
i wager dollars to donuts marty has mentioned that joey is 'still searching for his first postseason extra base hit' or the like
marty is pleasant that way
During my freakout at the end of the Orioles-Yankees game, I was able to calm myself by looking at this image of a Baby Walrus. As Matt Clment of Alexandria sort of said, it is both cute but also vaguely unsettling, allowing us to be distracted by it's strange clash of cuteness and unsettlingness.
Also, it has an awesome mustache.
And if they both make the Series, we will have Apocalypse II. Jose Canseco will be back on the field heroically saving his sixth wife from the killer earthquake.
No, not forcing it. Terrible pitch, worse location.
you do not have to hit just solo homers
ok? clear?
all the stars get that grief. see a-rod
just saying it's going to happen and joey will keep hearing it until he manages to pop a few in mid-october
when 57 year old rolen hits you hard i mean c'mon
did he promise to not pull him?
Agreed, particularly in a lose and go home game. You can't leave a pitcher in there to let a game get away (or to give it back). I wouldn't be letting Cain face the tie run here.
That photo was as awesome as the actual walrus picture. Plus I found it really funny that that photo showed up near the top of the google image search results for 'madeleine albright sea world'. I don't know how that happened.
and he drives you nuts in that he can crank on the pitcher's best pitch
Huge.
looked outside
edit: if moving the runners makes the batter swing when he usually would not, then moving the runners is a stoopid move.
I think that's first and last out. The second out, at least you're trying to get to third with one out, which is a good thing if you're safe. Outs on the bases are never helpful.
The Reds whole season could have hung on that one sequence.
if it's close you cannot depend on the umpire for help
the thing is that hanigan got to the big leagues by being very patient at the plate. so he's conditioned to take pitches
Has anyone done a comparative study of pitch tracking technologies to see how much in sync they are, and which ones are off where?
I get that there's somehow a big anthropomorphic "program conflict" screen following them around. That vaguely explains why the lady thinks the screen is watching her walk around naked.
But why, why does the husband say, "at least someone gets to"? Is this some kink of his that she hasn't been game to help out with? Are we supposed to figure that out beforehand? Is the program conflict screen preventing him from watching her walk around naked? It's all a bit dark, for me.
Then you shouldn't send runners when he's hitting.
Yeah, it's either a hit-and-run or it's not. If not, you're relying on the batter to decide on swinging.
Agreed, you're putting Hanigan in a position where he has to swing at anything close...and he didn't.
By the same token you're asking two of your players (both Rolen and Hanigan) to do things outside of their skill-set. That seems like poor managing.
EDIT: whoops, got that mixed up too...sub out Rolen for Bruce...or forget him entirely.
Re ph with Frazier or save him?
There was a documentary this year on Kyle's death, and I think they basically said that Girardi did it because he was one of most well-spoken and well-liked guys in baseball.
i think you save frazier for the moment
heh for a second I read this as you saying Girardi killed hinm
This was the Reds' radio team's consensus view.
