Division Six OmniChatter

By the end of the day, at least two teams will be eliminated since baseball is a cruel sport and October is a harsh mistress. Or something like that.

Wow.... that was a pretty good pitch, hard for Holliday to take that.
It looked to me like ball three was strike three, and strike three was ball four.

Say what you want about Dusty, but almost all of his teams never give up.

Can't say that about the 2003 Cubs - after the Bartman error, and then after they fell behind in Game 7, it really looked like they were just going through the motions.

I just came out of a meeting here in the north Bay - we had to stop when Bruce came up because no one was paying attention. You could see Gameday, or a Gameday equivalent, up on the computer screens of about 90% of the participants.

First NL team to come back 0-2 down in an LDS?

I find it weird that they're making a distinction between the 5-game LDS we have now and the old 5-game NLCS when discussing this stat. I know they're not the first team to come back from 0-2 down in a 5-game NL series, because ####### Steve Garvey.

Didn't they come back from like a 5 run deficit early in the game?

Looking it up, not quite, from 3-0 down in the first they went up 5-3 but then lost. I think that was more Beckett making the Cubs look bad than anything though. He was dominant that October.

If you go back and rewatch the game, toward the end they were half-heartedly swinging at everything in those last few innings. I remember being with a group, and we were all yelling at them to take a couple of ####### pitches, maybe draw a walk and get someone on base. And they just wouldn't do it - swing, swing, swing.

Not sure I am into this IBB, it's the 6th and the Cards are not exactly bombing it. Though Descalso sucks, so it's not a terrible move.
   582. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: October 11, 2012 at 05:50 PM (#4264568)
I think this is probably a reasonable place to IBB... especially if you're going to get calls like that one against the lefty.
   583. Guts Posted: October 11, 2012 at 05:51 PM (#4264569)
Ok Joyce, your outside corner zone is getting a little ridiculous. That was in the other batter's box.

And then he doesn't call the low strike, so we're even.
   584. cardsfanboy Posted: October 11, 2012 at 05:51 PM (#4264570)
I guess you have to walk Freese there, but Descalso doesn't have a platoon disadvantage.
   585. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: October 11, 2012 at 05:51 PM (#4264572)

I still think that, by the time this postseason is over, Teddy should run to the mound only to unmask and reveal himself to be Stephen Strasburg, at which point he strikes out the side.

Lohse is showing why he is a Cy Young candidate(not first on the ballot of course, as that is Dickey just for the fun of it, but on a five vote ballot, it's hard to see him not getting strong support)
