HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!

Do you just base the WIN/LOSE choice on whatever happened yesterday? Or what you expect to happen?
   3. Tom Nawrocki Posted: May 09, 2018 at 11:25 AM (#5669183)
After Jon Gray's seven shutout innings last night, Rockies starters now have a 1.08 ERA over their last 12 games.

Devin Mesoraco! Pennant bound, baby!

HOW CAN THE METS EVER HOPE TO BEAT ANYONE IF THEY CAN'T BEAT THE REDS?!?

it's mostly the first thing, a little bit of the second thing, and some consideration of their overall recent play. Lately I've been about 50/50, with series wins in Houston and Seattle sandwiching being swept by New York. Also, I seem to be wrong a lot more than 50% of the time this season, so there's that. It's also more fun to say losing. No, wait, not more fun, but funnier.
   9. Astroenteritis Posted: May 09, 2018 at 12:12 PM (#5669230)
The top three teams in the AL West are separated by one game. The odd thing is the Astros, Mariners and Angels are a combined 26-27 at home, but 38-16 on the road. Home cooking not tasting good so far.

If it's funnier, it's more fun. Not like what you say has any impact on the game.

Liriano and Colon today. Nice retro matchup.

No Cespedes. Mesoraco catching and hitting 6th today. Flores at 3rd, in the 2-hole.

The lineup that was handed in had Cabrera 2nd and Flores 3rd. When Flores made the out they didn't say anything, but when Cabby got the hit they challenged it and it was an out. Only the Mets.
   30. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: May 09, 2018 at 12:48 PM (#5669277)

The Mets broke MLB Gameday with their ineptitude.
   39. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: May 09, 2018 at 12:54 PM (#5669292)
I think the mouth-breathers they hired to work Gameday are totally nonplussed by what happened. It's still stuck.

Conforto double. 2nd & 3rd. No idea how many outs.

gameday has Winker up, so some progress.

1 out, according to MSN
   49. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: May 09, 2018 at 12:59 PM (#5669304)
Wheeler K's, there are 2 outs now. Nobody knows what happened to Bruce's PA.
   50. Panik on the streets of London (Trout! Trout!) Posted: May 09, 2018 at 12:59 PM (#5669305)
Wheeler strikes out looking. Rosario comes up with 2nd and 3rd 2 out

I think Bruce's PA is forfeited with the batting out of order. I don't know if he is 0-1 or 0-0

How? If Cabrera was out when he batted incorrectly, wasn't the first inning over? Bruce was never up.

And Gameday has caught up. 1-2 to Blandino.
   55. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: May 09, 2018 at 01:03 PM (#5669310)
Odd. Mets announcers are saying that Bruce taking the out for the order issue, even thought he batted when he was supposed to. Odd.
   56. Panik on the streets of London (Trout! Trout!) Posted: May 09, 2018 at 01:04 PM (#5669312)
Ok. got some clarification. Seems that we were mistaken. Bruce was supposed to be hitting 3rd so he is the one whose PA is forfeited. Score it 2U.
   57. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: May 09, 2018 at 01:05 PM (#5669313)
That should be an error.
   58. Panik on the streets of London (Trout! Trout!) Posted: May 09, 2018 at 01:05 PM (#5669314)
Hopefully they have their crap together now for the rest of the season, scratch that, my life.

I think it was a manager error. I don't see how Bruce should be charged with an AB. As much as I like Callaway's attitude, he has made some pretty egregious mistakes in game management.
   60. Panik on the streets of London (Trout! Trout!) Posted: May 09, 2018 at 01:08 PM (#5669316)
Now Cabrera's double is being retracted. He is 0-0. Bruce remains 0-1. Oy vey.

82° and sunny with some high cirrus clouds for DET @ TEX today - just about perfect right now, though I hope it doesn’t edge TOO close to 90 by the late innings :) Bartolo Colon and Adrian Beltre both in the Texas lineup, I love this sport ...

It’s not like the Rangers are loaded with star power, but the Tigers are especially anonymous. Francisco Liriano is pitching, and for some reason Pete Kozma is starting at 2B - they’ve been arond the block. A couple of others I saw last year or earlier this week; two (Goodrum in RF and Greiner catching) I have never heard of.

I'm a Reds fan who lives in the Seattle area. I got the mlb.com radio package to follow the Reds games when I want to (at $19.99 for the complete season for every team it's a great deal). But I hate the Reds broadcast team so thoroughly that I usually listen to the opposing team's broadcast.

Classic conundrum for a mediocre-to-bad team: when the pitchers pitch, the hitters don't hit and vice-versa.

If they can get the rotation squared away, and Conforto and Cespedes start hitting, they're only 2 games back.

Sammy Sosa 1,667 29
Adrian Beltre 1,653 30

What's crazy about this list is that everyone at or near the top played forever and ever... except the guy at #5, Gehrig.

Depends. It is going to be some combination of
Marty or Thom Brenneman (crusty, angry, bitter, sour...)
with Jeff Brantley though he does TV too, Jim Day to fill in, and something Flynn)

This collection hates baseball 10X Joe Buck.
   97. Panik on the streets of London (Trout! Trout!) Posted: May 09, 2018 at 02:44 PM (#5669394)
Gehrig.

Gehrig was very very great. His greatness was not only overshadowed by Ruth and DiMaggio as many people have often said, but also by his durability and Gary Cooper.

Still the greatest 1B of all time. Shockingly, Pujols has had a worth post-age 35 career than Gehrig. And Gehrig was mostly dead.
