Dodgers Corey Seager to Undergo Arthroscopic Surgery on Left Hip Tuesday

The Dodgers announced Monday that Corey Seager will undergo an arthroscopic surgery on his left hip on Tuesday in New York.

The All-Star shortstop has been off the field since April when the team announced he would miss the remainder of the season following a Tommy John surgery to repair a right UCL sprain.

Seager seems awfully young to have to have all these surgeries. Maybe his youth is a good thing here? I dunno. Seager is slated to be cleared for baseball activities in January.

Ick. Hips and backs are the things that seem to just linger and linger for a lot of players. There is no good injury of course but it seems like with most injuries you can kind of get a sense of the prognosis and recovery time. Hip injuries and back injuries are the kind of thing that seem to just keep flaring up. I hope that's not the case here but I find this more concerning than the Tommy John which is probably dumb on my part but I'm dumb often enough that I'm not worried about it.

I share Jose's concerns. Hip and back issues suggest structural abnormalities/suboptimalities that don't go away --- generally these seem to be joints in which the bones do not glide by one another properly, resulting in regular injury to the cortical bone which leads to new growth that may have to be scraped away (think of the bone spurs underlying plantar fascitis, but in the hip). This could be precautionary (i.e., he was going to be out for the elbow, so why not do this *now* rather than in 10 years), but this may be something Seager has to have done every 5 years or so while playing.

Have we seen his birth certificate? Are we sure he's not 67?

Looks like Karma is balancing out all of the Dodger's inexplicable player luck (Muncy, Stripling, Taylor) on Corey Seager's back.
