Dodgers crush Cubs in Game 5 to advance to the World Series for first time since 1988 - LA Times

I’m not a fan of the Dodgers but I am a fan of the best teams getting to the World Series. The Dodgers were clearly the best team in the NL.

“I’ve always felt like part of the job for the front office of this organization was being the caretaker of the greatest pitcher of this generation,” Zaidi said. “I really believe that’s what he is. Sometimes we all forget he’s 29 years old, because he’s been around for so long, and carried such a burden for this franchise for so long. To be able to build a team around him that’s gotten to the World Series, and for him to get a chance to pitch on that stage, yeah, it feels incredible.”

I just hope Roberts is over his fascination with having Kike Hernandez batting cleanup for the 104-win Dodgers.

I just noticed this (although I imagine it's been widely commented on) but the Cubs hit seven homers in the series, and scored a total of eight runs. That is hard to do.

The "extra" run was the Cubs' first run of the series, Contreras scoring ahead of Almora on his home run in game one. No Cub had to run across the plate in the series.

You mean the guy who just hit 3 HR in last night's game?

Exactly. He's used up all his homers now.

That is how it works. Adam Kennedy never hit another postseason HR after his three-homer game. Reggie didn't hit another postseason HR for almost a year after his. He didn't even both to play in a postseason game during that time. Babe Ruth was still pretty good after his three-homer games, but now he's dead. You don't want Kike Hernandez to die, do you?
