Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig burglarized for the fourth time

The home of Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig was burglarized on Tuesday night, the fourth time a police report has been filed on a residence owned by the baseball star in the last 18 months.

It’s the third time Puig’s current house in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley has been burglarized, and the second time this month.

Los Angeles Police Department public information officer Jeff Lee told USA TODAY Sports that a home on the 5800 block of Louise Avenue in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Encino was reported to be burglarized around 8:10 p.m.

So, which one of you has been doing this?

Here I thought "burglarized," was new slang for "had outfielder rob a home run," and I was thinking four times in a season is a lot of that.

Now that we know what block he lives on, we can start up a neighborhood patrol.

In case you were wondering like me, from the article:

An alarm sensor triggered the police dispatch.

This sort of thing always reminds me of Sean Taylor, when they thought he would be at a game but turned out to be home with an injury, and got shot and killed during the would-be burglary.

After 3 burglaries in the same house, you have to figure either you get the mack daddy of all security systems or you move.

I had a friend who had a similar situation. He lived in kind of a ghetto neighborhood, and they broke in and took most of his stuff about a month after he moved in. He went out and bought replacements, and about 2 weeks later they broke in and stole all the replacements. This time he didn't bother, and when they broke in a 3rd time they didn't steal anything (nothing to take) but they defecated all over his house, I guess angry that there was nothing to steal.

He moved out the next day. Good call.

Maybe the Dodgers should send him down to work on his defense.

Reporter: "Why do you rob banks?"

Bank robber: "Because that's where they keep the money."

First of all, WTF.

Second. This reminds me of a tidbit from John McPhee's Uncommon Carriers. Apparently many zillions of new cars are moved across the country via freight train. The train cars they're loaded onto are usually open air, probably because enclosed ones are more expensive. In order to facilitate moving them on and off the trains, they usually have the keys inside and some gas in the tank. Hobos therefore occasionally will hop into a car and turn it on, enjoy the heat or A/C, listen to the radio, sleep, enjoy that new car smell, etc. When some businesses got tired of this they locked the cars and confiscated the keys. The usual hobo response to this is to break the windows, defecate, and leave. So the car businesses stopped doing this, giving the hobos a kind of tacit permission to use cars without really damaging them.

This house has been repeatedly robbed. Let's print the address, that will help!

I Googled 5800 Louise Ave in LA and it looks like a fairly unimpressive neighborhood. Either Puig is trying to save his pennies or the real estate prices there are insane.

Not any more. They are completely enclosed now, which protects automobiles* from the elements and keeps unauthorized people out.

Here's a press release about Union Pathetic's new auto racks from 2010 complete with photos and descriptions. Pretty neat stuff.
