Finally, proof that Clayton Kershaw is good.

I like the stat, especially if it has predictive power beyond FIPS or whatever. But i wonder how much further down this rabbit hole we'll go.

Remember B-Pro's Support Neutral W/L, seemed like the be-all-end-all at the time. Then came FIPS and all its variants, and now this. How long til we forget the hitter altogether, and just grade the pitcher on his pitches.

"That pitch had X spin rate, Y/Z vertical/horizontal break, this speed, that location, yea the batter got "lucky" and lined it for a double, but that kind of pitch gets taken for a strike 40% of the time, hit weakly for an out 40% of the time, .. in all it adds up to a .517 OPS...

Finally, proof that Clayton Kershaw is good.

It is kind of interesting to think of Kershaw as someone who pitches at the level of an elite reliever, but a starting pitcher's quantity of innings.

There's potential here, but this is presented really stupidly.

They need to isolate the new thing they're measuring. You can't tell how good these pitchers are at inducing soft contact because that element of the statistic is buried under the weight of Ks & BBs, ie the stuff we already know about.

Kenley Jansen had a 10/1 K/BB ratio, no #### he's not allowing a high OPS. But hey look, in real life he allowed a 446 OPS, and the stat predicts a 438. So maybe he's actually BAD at the one thing the statistic is supposed to measure?

That's basically a 150 QEQA for Jansen, Miller, and Britton.
