Dodgers shed Gwynn, recall Sands

No Prince of LA: Time of Sands.

The Dodgers have parted ways with Tony Gwynn Jr., designating him for assignment while calling up Jerry Sands to add some power off the bench.

My attempted pun looks even worse after seeing it posted.

Anyway, I'm hoping this move means that Sands will be the primary 1B going forward. If he was called up to be a fourth outfielder, then I don't like it.

The 25th anniversary of Gwynn's uncle's MLB debut is eight days away. Msybe Tony Jr. will be let go on Chris Gwynn night.
