RJ wins this thread.
I'm looking at you, legislative branch!
I came in here to make exactly that joke. /sadface
I think you can - the charges just won't stick...
Some many years ago, as responding officers broke up a barfight that a buddy of mine was earnestly trying to get involved in a Buster Bluth sort of way, he asked the officer threatening him with arrest exactly what the charge would be, and the cop responded "being a ######### and accessory to #############\"
I wish I was man enough to have been charged with this at some point in my youth. Alas...
"The 28-year-old Ponson is accused of committing violence alone or in the company of others in public, kicking a person in the head and battering a person by hitting him in the face with his fist."
Man, these other countries have all the fun. "Unleashing a brawl in a discotheque"? "Committing violence alone or in the company of others in public"?
EDIT: Also, I like that Ponson "kicked" one guy, but he didn't "punch" the other. Rather, he "battered" him by "hitting him in the face with his fist."
No, not Wilton, too!
What?
forget it..he's rolling
I can't wait to see him on the Yankees.
This is the first time that I realized Vlad was retired. That makes me sad...
"We tried to let him walk, but he just kept swinging."
Has Vlad officially retired? Or is he still just waiting around for a call from somebody?
#31 - the latter. I guess I just meant that I realized he's likely not going to play in the majors again. Although I suppose he could always pull a Sammy Sosa.
You could always just raise your hands and pretend you were the cutoff man if you saw him rearing back with it...
I kind of liked Wilton the projection system. It may not have worked well, but Gary's goal was to try to predict breakout seasons, and as hard as that is, it's more interesting to me than projection systems that are very conservative.
Estimated Projections of Yankees.
For my money, all projection systems should be named after folks with the surname "Guerrero." That doesn't give us as many choices at the major league level, but just look at the number of minor leaguers who could provide some really bizarre new names. Wascar, anyone??

Turn white?
I'm pretty sure that Wilton was not neural net related. Not that Clay couldn't have come up with something like that given time, but my impression was that he just didn't have a lot of time and came up with a fairly conservative (and not coincidentally, one with a smaller standard error than Vlad) system.
As to Vlad, it's more difficult to project breakouts, and thus any system that tries is going to look poor in relation to a more conservative system, but, as I said, they're more interesting to me. BP has taken a lot of heat for its Matt Wieters projection some years ago (I think that was a PECOTA projection), and had it been looking for breakout seasons from players it would have been fine - but in that case I think they just misfired. I think Colin has mentioned there were some systemic errors that led to such a high projection.
And I agree that the approach Vlad took made it an interesting contrast since pretty much every other projection system is regress to career norms, minor adjustments for age.
