Donald Trump Outraged to Find A-Rod Batting Third Again, Says Slugger ‘Can’t Perform Without Drugs’

Dearther Movement gains steam!

Alex Rodriguez will bat third for the Bronx Bombers again on Wednesday night. While there had been a rising commotion from the rabble-rousers to drop the struggling slugger to somewhere lower in the lineup, A-Rod will be playing DH in the three-hole with New York hosting Baltimore in Game 3 of the ALDS. Girardi’s decision did not sit well with Donald Trump, who let the world hear his displeasure in a tweet.

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump

A-Rod must be dropped in the Yankees line-up tonight if they want to win. He simply can’t perform without drugs.

Rodriguez is batting just .111 through the first two games of the team’s first-round playoff series, going 1-for-9 with five strikeouts. A return home to Yankee Stadium might help what ails the former MVP, but if not ... well, then he might need to start worrying about hearing Trump’s infamous catch phrase.

There are few more real life situations more applicable to the phrase "don't feed the troll" than to all things Donald Trump.

At last, I have something in common with Alex Rodriguez.

The fear of getting fired keeps A-Rod awake at night.

I seemed to remember Arod hitting a lot of sharply hit balls that just happened to be right at someone. Not really sure he doesn't have the stuff right now, it seems that luck is just not his lady. (she prefers gift baskets I guess)

Too bad that probably isn't true about Trump.

Just wrong about everything.

Ken Davidoff has a more sensible way of putting the same point.
We know about A-Rod’s postseason struggles since his insanely good 2009. What’s just as relevant, if not more so, is his worst-ever 2012 regular season. His .783 OPS ranked seventh among Yankees regulars. He’s batting third more on reputation at this point, and as Girardi seems to realize, that won’t get it done when you have such little room for error...

Six years ago, in the ALDS against Detroit, Joe Torre see-sawed A-Rod up and down the team’s lineup — from sixth to fourth to eighth — while also tinkering with Melky Cabrera, Jason Giambi, Gary Sheffield and Bernie Williams. No one could figure out the rationale behind the Yankees manager’s addition and deletions. Especially since Rodriguez still ranked as an elite offensive player.

To the contrary, everyone would understand if Girardi finally cleared A-Rod out of the prestigious third spot and sent him on a good trip down the starting nine.

This is what is great about Donald Trump. In less than 140 characters, Trump is able to (a) identify there is a problem, (b) identify the source of the problem, (c) identify the solution to the problem.

Why again is it that this man is not running for president????

Is this counting Ichiro as a regular?

Arod isn't that far off from Jeter for the season, yet it's Jeter who is having the renaissance, and Arod who is sucking?

How much of the other regulars who are posting better ops, helped by platooning? Yes Cano is obviously the best hitter on the team and should be batting either second or third, then you have Granderson with a great year last year and basically and should be in the heart of the order, and of course Swisher with his consistent 120+ ops+.... that is who should be the heart of the order, beyond that, the other guys ahead of him, aren't ahead by much and might have a platoon advantage.

Without examining it, but going on reputation, memory and their numbers this year

You lead off with Jeter, Teix bats second, Cano third(note I know the best hitter should bat second, but that isn't historically what teams do) Granderson fourth, Swisher fifth, Arod sixth, and whatever scrubs cover the rest of the positions and platoon advantages fill out the rest of the lineup.

But yes, there is no reason for Arod to be batting third on this team.

. . . Cano third(note I know the best hitter should bat second, but that isn't historically what teams do) Granderson . . .

One reason A-Rod is likely to continue hitting 3rd or 4th is to break up the lefties.

So now I have to hope A-rod hits 4 home runs and Baltimore wins 5-4. Then Trump will take credit for spurring him into action. Man, can that guy vanish soon enough?

I love Memphis, but frankly - if the existence of Trump could be limited to Tennessee, nothing against the fine people of that state, but I can live with that.

We need a whore tag for posts concerning people like Trump and Canseco.

I think I would root for Canseco without hesitation if he were to box Trump.

I had the first Melania mention at Post 6 - but not til Post 10, and not by name.

You guys are slipping.
http://ow.ly/enTJb

I have a million Trump stories that I can't tell, unfortunately.
One particularly good one has Melania and another guy in it - no, not like that.

Just how an eventual Trump business partner nailed a deadpan Melania-related punchline that won over The Donald instantly.

Arod isn't that far off from Jeter for the season, yet it's Jeter who is having the renaissance, and Arod who is sucking?
Well, sure, but A-Rod was a vastly better hitter than Jeter once, gets paid not insignificantly more, and didn't have two straight down years to look good compared to. ARod's equivalent of Jeter's 2012 would be something like hitting .290 with 35 homers and a .900ish OPS in 2013.

He's still a good player, though, although not in this series. Yech.
   25. RollingWave Posted: October 10, 2012 at 11:23 PM (#4262916)
And Predictablly, A-rod gets pinch hit for the guy that hit a game tying AND a walk off HR in 2 strait AB, insane.

Or maybe he would think he was a ghost and try to make amends to all the people he was a dick to, like Cartman in that South Park episode. Either way, worth a shot.

Ibanez is even older than A-Rod. What drugs is he on?
   31. Howie Menckel Posted: October 11, 2012 at 10:41 AM (#4263435)
A-Rod has been such a disaster the past three postseasons (7 for 61) that his edge in career postseason OPS over Jeter has dwindled to .855 vs .844 (granting that not one WFAN radio caller in 100 would ever believe that stat.)

Jeter in 155 games is 197 for 718, .310 AVG, .375 OBP, .469 SLG, 20 HR, 61 RBI, 109 R

A-Rod in 71 games is 70 for 312, .268 AVG, .376 OBP, .479 SLG, 13 HR, 41 RBI, 43 R

Jeter's RBI rate is poor, interestingly enough, even for a leadoff hitter

I think we can eliminate Rogaine from the lineup of suspects.
