Duke Snider’s #4 @ Center Field Grass in Dodger Stadium

No, the Dodgers haven’t installed a newfangled attendance counter in CF…it’s a neat Duke Snider tribute!

Great tribute from the Dodgers.

#4 in center field to honor Hall of famer Duke Snider who wore #4 and played center field.

Duke Snider Bobblehead night is this Tuesday, August 9. You will also be able to see Duke’s Hall of fame plaque!

I don't understand. Why hasn't Dodger Stadium built an enormous concrete behemoth in center field to completely block out the view of the trees and make watching a game an exercise in postmodern futility yet?

Hey, anyone want the Raiders?

You sure? It looks like the CF gate is open, and that's dirt.

Sorry, this is New York history.

Los Angeles can pay tribute to Steve Bilko.

Cool but for reason the location is visually annoying to me. Why so shallow?

He grew up in Compton, as well. It isn't a reach for the Dodgers to honor him.

Is that why he would sign kids' autographs "Life ain't nothin' but ####### and money"?

Looks like he moved out for pro baseball just a few years before he coulda been neighbors with a young George Dubya.

Duke's best friend from childhood, BTW, was Pete Rozelle.

Did Dressen or Alston ever employ a five-man infield? (John Felske, of all managers, successfully used it once and it helped the Phillies win a game in Pittsburgh.)

Or they can mow a silhouette of Willie Davis ducking a fly ball in the Sun.

Looks like a Fantastic Four tribute to me. Though now I guess they're called the Future Foundation or some such. Bah.

If you put the number further back, people wouldn't be able to see it as well because the center fielders would be standing on it.
I, for one, do not want to have Shane Victorino walking on Duke Snider's number more than he has to. Perhaps a trap door can be installed to swallow him up every time he steps on it.
