Dusty Baker bristles at Frazier question

Up goes Rolen!

Then the bristling started.

“Plus, I don’t want to be answering this every day about Scottie and Frazier,” Baker said. “I’m going to start telling you from now on ‘manager’s decision,’ like basketball. I don’t know what I’m to do, but I’ll figure it out.”

“You get tired of talking about it. It’s going to be talked about over and over for the rest of the year. Let them talk and let me work.”

...“Eventually, the job’s going to be Frazier’s,” Baker said. “Not to say when, but Scottie’s not a spring chicken. Frazier has a good attitude about things.”

Frazier is the latest extra player who’s become the People’s Choice. Fans wanted Chris Heisey over Jonny Gomes, Paul Janish over Orlando Cabrera and so on.

“Since I’ve been here there have been six or seven guys everybody fell in love with,” Baker said. “The next month you don’t hear their name. The next year or whatever. I’m just trying to win ballgames.”

When? Pretty much already. Rolen's an FA at year's end.

This problem is easily solved by putting Frazier in left field when Rolen starts, but Dusty loves him some Ryan Ludwick.

I am sure I can find a quote from Frasier that is relevant to this, if needed.

The fans got it right with Heisey over Gomes (as the organization later decided too) and with Janish over Cabrera (ditto). I'm not sure who the other 4-5 guys were but "everybody" is off to a good start against Dusty. :-)

It's clear that being asked about Frazier irritates Dusty Baker. Some journalist should ask him "Now, about Frazier, I gotta ask ... How many rounds could you last against him, in your prime?"

That question assumes Dusty would lose to Frazier so I can see why he'd be annoyed.

That's a clown question, bro.

when it comes to heisey it was pretty clear he could hit better than gomes. and anyone can play defense better than gomes who is a joke in the outfield though heisey must lead the planet in 3 hop throws to home plate.

though heisey must lead the planet in 3 hop throws to home plate.

Left fielder's disease; in yesterday's Marlins-Cardinals game Logan Morrison made a couple of 3 hop throws back to the infield. Then, in the bottom of the 9th, Morrison was unable to throw out a gimpy David Freese at the plate on a ball hit right at him. Of course the Marlins wouldn't have been in that position if Heath Bell had been able to throw strikes.
