Acuna now has 19 total home runs, making him the 20th player to go deep at least that many times in his age-20 season or younger. The last was the Astros' Carlos Correa in 2015. But if Acuna stays hot, he will quickly move up the leaderboard for players 20 or younger. Just nine have reached the 25-homer plateau: Mike Trout (2012), Alex Rodriguez (1996), Tony Conigliaro ('65), Orlando Cepeda ('58), Frank Robinson ('56), Al Kaline ('55), Eddie Mathews ('52), Ted Williams ('39) and Mel Ott ('29).

That's not a bad comp list.

Considering he had the late call-up, service time boogie and was out a month with a leg injury. The 4 HRs in the last 3 games have been LF, CF (2) and RF. It has been quite a run for him.

Would a Marlin's pitcher (it is not like you are fighting to keep the fish in a pennant race) not come in and all in the first AB today, hoping Acuna will chase out of the strike-zone pitches in pursuit of the streak, and not feel bad if Acuna does not chase those pitches and walks?

Oh, apparently, you could just plunk him in the ribs and clear the benches. That also seems to be an option.

Elbow.

I was listening on the radio, and it sounded bad. The Marlins pitcher got ejected after one pitch!!

Acuna HBP and then leaving game means his HR streak remains intact, per MLB rules

I assume that means five-game streak remains intact, but not the leadoff one, right?

I think I read that both continue, but good question

Just a chickensh*t move. They bean some 20 year old because he's beating them six ways to nothing. The manager and player should miss 20 games and be fined 20 games worth of pay.
These unwritten rules are just sh*t. The irony is the fans tuned in to see if Acuna could keep the streak going; not have some punkarse pitcher managed by some old school wanker try to take him out.

You appear to be right:

Because he was forced from the game after being hit by the pitch in his only plate appearance, Acuna will be eligible to continue his streak of leadoff homers in his next game.

But that appears to be insane. His exit by HBP didn't keep him from an opportunity to lead off the game. He did that. If he had stayed in the game, he wouldn't have been able to get another chance to keep his streak going.

if he kept his hands way in he might have bumped into that one

Class organization you run there, Derek Jeter. What a bush league move; you should be ashamed of yourself.

I doubt Jeter had anything to do with it; rather look at the old school Yankee in the dugout.

The buck stops with Jeter. Unless it's three feet to his left, in which case it trickles into centerfield.

Jeter has the power to enforce #9, though, and say that's not the way we do things here.

Do I hear crickets?

I don't think you can expect the Marlins to dole out their own punishment, but it would certainly be a proper thing to do.
   18. Lassus Posted: August 16, 2018 at 12:16 PM (#5727921)
The Marlins are going nowhere. Would any members of the fanbase be upset if Jeter fired Donnie Baseball today? He wants to make a mark on the league, here's his chance.

Keith Hernandez also a moron on the situation.

You're being polite, Moses.

EDIT: And I see MLB.com removed the clip of Keith I had watched yesterday. No surprise there.
